Bridge report. They are getting a little more done each day on this bridge across the Tennessee/Tellico River.

I drove by in the morning when they were working but didn’t have time to stop. At the end of the day I did make time. Well really it was to use the bathroom. There is this bathroom for emergency stopping only. The stalls have no doors but unlike some mechanic shop bathrooms I’ve been in the sink isn’t covered with black grease smudges.

Anyway once I was there I got a good look at the bridge. Those piles they were driving  last spring are now sticking out of the water with concrete looking ready for something.

submarine-10396

Yesterday at the park I learned how to make a “Deep sea underwater summerine”.

Here, let me show you.

submarine-10388

So first you have to pick out a perfect stick and secure a dandelion to it with a piece of grass.

submarine-10389

Then the tricky part comes

submarine-10392

You’ve got to tie a little rock to the stick for weight.

submarine-10390

But sometimes the rock falls off so you have to look in the grass for it

submarine-10395

and start all over.

submarine-10391

Next you need a spikey seed pod thing  from some plant that will float.

submarine-10393

Carefully tie that on.

submarine-10394

If you start tying the grass before you put it on the stick sometimes it’s better.

submarine-10397

Here it is completed and ready for launch.

submarine-10400

Just take it down to the water

and set it in.

And that’s all there is to it.

walk in the woods--12 copy

The PhotoADay prompt got me out for a walk. I found some water and  am surprised I didn’t walk back with soaking wet shoes.

Please excuse green Sigma lens flare. It’s really starting to bug me. I think Canon’s redish orange would go better with my afternoon light. But never mind that, it was a good day to get out Sigma neon green or not.

sunnyday-4906

To help out the data that indicates that the older people get the more they talk about the weather , here’s my weather report in pictures for the week.

The Rhododendrons are out in the lower elevations.

Norris-5718

In spite of the wet spring they’re getting the hay in.

Looks like it’s going to be a good crop of poison ivy this year.

The water is still way up above normal levels for this time of year.

Until next time,

porters creek_5363

A few photos from Porters Creek last week. When ever I see a stream I always think of Paul’s friend Duane  saying “Ya, know I think the better angle is across on the other side.”

porters cr-

So now I have to go out in the water to see if there’s a better angle. Sometimes there is and sometimes it’s just an excuse to get my feet wet.

I was just reading yesterday an article on upgrading camera equipment or not. It was great, he said if you have to ask the answer is no. If you really need to upgrade you’ll know it and wont go ask anyone.

TM415112-34
Me and Larry are partners, we do things together. When we go out in the canoe I ride in the front and Larry sits in the back.

TM415112-17
It’s just great floating along in a canoe.

TM415112-22
I like the smell of the water and just the time to think. I think about a lot of things, like chasing cats now that's just good old fashioned fun. I think about other things I just can’t remember any of them. I always forget as soon as I’m done thinking about it.

TM415112-26
I also like looking into the water, I see fish swimming and sometimes I see a big dog. Oh, that’s me.

TM415112-33
I sit back down and watch straight ahead. It’s a great life we have, Larry and me. I can’t think of a single thing to make it better.
Well maybe a Wendy’s crispy burger. Yeah I like those. I like them a lot.

TM415112-35
Did I tell you about the time I ate that Wendy’s burger –What’s that?

TM415112-45
Oh, a Blue Herron. I could chase one…

TM415112-37
Then Larry says “Sprocket.” That’s my name.

TM415112-81
I sit down real quick. But then I remembered I was thirsty.

TM415112-87
I heard something so I sit up and listen. A train, yes a train! It’s coming I can feel it.

TM415112-55
Oh, yes it’s a train alright. I’ve never ridden on a train. I like riding in the truck with Larry even though he says I tear things up. I really don’t I just sometimes have to look out both windows on each side real quick. Ya know to smell the air as we go zooming down the road.

TM415112-65
Oh,  I was telling you about the Wendy’s burger. There it was sitting on the table looking at me. I don’t know what happened, the next thing I knew I was standing on my back legs, front legs bent at the elbows leaning on the table and I was licking the last juicy drips off that paper.
-What’s over there?

TM415112-112
I see some geese and give them a bark or two, just to say hello and tell them I see them.
They fly off. I like that.

TM415112-158
It’s been a good day,

TM415112-151
a real good day.
