Recipe of the day

  • one cup of love, two cups of loyalty,
  • three cups of forgiveness,
  • four quarts of faith and
  • one barrel of laughter.
Take love and loyalty and mix them thoroughly with faith; blend with tenderness, kindness and understanding. Add friendship and hope. Sprinkle abundantly with laughter. Bake it with sunshine. Wrap it regularly with lots of hugs. Serve generous helpings daily.

I feel very unqualified to be taking on this topic but since you asked I can simply tell you what I know. Or what I did. It may not be right, efficient or anything else.

How to get these icons to appear horizontally in the sidebar like they are on my blog.

Well, I don’t know much about html,  so I can’t tell you the why and how or what part of it makes it vertical or horizontal.
I just found someone’s blog that some icons laid out horizontally, I highlighted, right clicked, view source, copied to notepad. At every “href” I changed it to my link, at every “src” I replace with the url to the icon I wanted displayed, at every “alt” I put a word describing the link.

Here’s what I did:
1. Upload icons to where ever you want to host them, photobucket, flickr, picasa, wordpress media library, where ever.
2. view the icon, right click on it, select ”view image” (Wordpress will give you the image url when you view images from your media library)
3. copy icon url from address bar
4.  paste icon url into YOUR_IMAGE_URL (see example below)
5. find page you want the icon the to click through to, copy address from address bar
6. paste address inside the quotation marks after the “href=”

7. in Blogger, layout, add gadget, HTML/Java script
7a. in Wordpress , Dashboard, appearance, widgets, add text, Arbitrary text or HTML

8. paste into gadget or widget save and see if your links work.
If it doesn’t, try staring at the html and see if you can spot something missing. If it just doesn’t make any sense take a break and go make some cookies. Come back the next day and start fresh it’ll make a world of difference.

It looks something like this.

<div id="social-icons">
<a href="https://twitter.com/#!/YOUR_USER_NAME"><img src="YOUR_IMAGE_URL" target="_blank" width="45" height="45" alt="Twitter" /></a>

<a href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/YOUR_FEED_URL" target="_blank"><img src="YOUR_IMAGE_URL" width="45" height="45" alt="RSS" /></a>

<a href="http://http://pinterest.com/YOUR_PINTEREST_NAME" target="_blank"><img src="YOUR_IMAGE_URL" width="45" height="45" alt="Pinterest" /></a>

<a href=”http://www.facebook.com/YOUR_FB_IDENTIFIER target="_blank"><img src="YOUR_IMAGE_URL" width="45" height="45" alt="Facebook" /></a>
</div>

I hope this helps.

Or at least inspires you to go read someone else's tutorial where they might explain it better. For more good reading Diythemes has a good tutorial on this and more.

turkey left over sandwich-2027

Turkey and cranberry have always been some of the highlights of Thanksgiving dinner for me and leftovers are just as good.

A couple of  slices of whole wheat multi grain bread,

a leaf or two of romaine and we’ve got a sandwich!

I really like these barbecue flavored sweet potato chips from some brand I’d never heard of before called Food should taste good. If you have any sweet potato chips they’ll go nicely with a left over turkey sandwich.

There were more on the plate when I started but I kept eating them as I was making the sandwiches.

Eating this sandwich turned out to be a bit messy, the turkey squished out one side, the lettuce and cheese went out the other and cranberry sauce dripped everywhere.

It was very good, drips and all.

Ingredients

  • Whole grain bread
  • leftover turkey
  • leftover cranberry sauce
  • cheddar cheese

ice bears hockey-1840

We watched Hockey with some of my little hockey playing friends. The NHL might not be playing hockey, but lower levels of pro hockey are playing this season.

This is Eli, he’s been playing hockey for a couple of years and Pekka Rinne  just might be his favorite NHL player.

ice bears hockey-1855

The game was tied near the end of the 3rd.

ice bears hockey-1864

Noah said he wanted to see a shootout. I agreed I’d like a shootout but I wanted to see the IceBears  win if we were going to go to a shootout.

Nobody scored in overtime so we got the shoot out we wanted. Now Noah wasn’t sure this shoot out was such a good idea.

ice bears hockey-1870

I just can’t watch

It was still tied, The IceBears  shot second and they were sending their last guy...

ice bears hockey-1873

Ricky did some kind of a Datsyuk move. He came down stickhandling on his side and faked a shot

Then he slid the puck across with the toe of his backhand

ice bears hockey-1876

And shot backhanded. But Did he score??

ice bears hockey-1878

YES!

ice bears hockey-1880

Everyone was on their feet.

We won!

16 view from your window #FMSPHOTOADAY

I looked at the photo a day list and cringed when I saw the prompt for day 15, in my bag. Oh no, Chantelle this is worse than the refrigerator prompt from September. I could find things I didn’t know I had.

12 drink

Day 12 was pretty easy and this pomegranate lemonade is really good.

15 in your bag

Alright, how about the grocery bag with Mrs. Pig’s bulk buy? Mrs. Pig’s bulk buy is in reference to a children’s  book of that title about some little piglets who only liked ketchup and didn’t want to eat any other food their mother made for them. So the next time Mrs. Pig went shopping she came home with gallons and gallons of only ketchup. The little piglets were overjoyed to be able to have just ketchup for a meal Until they realize they’re going to be eating ketchup for breakfast lunch and dinner until the last gallon is gone.

Anyway I refer to any large quantity of any food item as “Mrs. Pig’s bulk buy” and people look at me a little weirdly. It’s ok, I am a little weirdly.

Anyway, let’s keep going through my bags. 15 in your bag 2

On first glance it looks like pretty much everything that should be in there, except why am I carrying around empty water bottles?

15 in your bag 4 #FMSPHOTOADAY

I dug down to the bottom and came out with a bunch of little things that I just keep, ya know just in case.

One skate lace. Actually that could be very useful.

The hand warmers that I will never use even if I was freezing to death because then I wouldn’t be able to tell myself I have those hand warmers in case I get REALLY cold.

Then there’s the last end of a roll of tape that isn’t enough to tape even the tiniest  child’s hockey stick. But I keep it in there just, just because, I don’t know. I really should throw it out.

The there’re the rubber bands for extreme emergencies. These are for really extreme emergencies because they don’t work real well any more, kind of sprung and hardly hold hair.

A few pens, one of them works and I’m not sure which one it is.

15 in your bag 5

In another bag, oh, this should be day 17 cause it’s probably the last thing I bought. You can’t quite see it in the photo but the price tag say original price 5.99 and then the sale price is marked 7.99. This is the one and only time I argued to pay regular price instead of the sale price.

10 can't live without

Can’t live without, Bokeh! These shapes are so much fun to make.

10 cant live without2 #FMSPHOTOADAY

And this clear nail polish is also good for chigger bites since for some reason unknown to me God has decided here in the south we cannot live without chiggers.

15 in your bag 3

These little shapes were in my camera bag. They are what I put in front of my lens to get the Bokeh shapes floating around.

11 night
