submarine-10396

Yesterday at the park I learned how to make a “Deep sea underwater summerine”.

Here, let me show you.

submarine-10388

So first you have to pick out a perfect stick and secure a dandelion to it with a piece of grass.

submarine-10389

Then the tricky part comes

submarine-10392

You’ve got to tie a little rock to the stick for weight.

submarine-10390

But sometimes the rock falls off so you have to look in the grass for it

submarine-10395

and start all over.

submarine-10391

Next you need a spikey seed pod thing  from some plant that will float.

submarine-10393

Carefully tie that on.

submarine-10394

If you start tying the grass before you put it on the stick sometimes it’s better.

submarine-10397

Here it is completed and ready for launch.

submarine-10400

Just take it down to the water

and set it in.

And that’s all there is to it.

nutcracker1

Once upon a time I wanted to take ballet lessons. I really just wanted a tutu. That phase passed and I moved onto other things. But if there was some small remaining lingering little part of me that still wanted to dance on pointe shoes, it died never to return after saturday night.

viewer discretion advised, especially if you don’t like looking at toes.

nutcracker3

The little girls dressing room was kinda  how I imagined it would be.

nutcracker4

In the big girls dressing room it looked like they'd been through some kind of foot torture for confessions to crimes they’d never committed.

Oh, wow, your toes get bruised from dancing?

No, well, only because I forgot to trim my toenails .

I decided not to ask any more. I could see the Second skin, the tiger balm, the Band-Aids, tape, gel thingy, and fuzzies all being used by each dancer in her own special routine to bundle her toes up in the least painful way possible so she can go out again and do what she love to do.

Yeah, I now think being a gingerbread,

ballet battle

or a mouse

or a soldier

would be just fine.

fun

I helped my niece make cupcakes during my visit. She’s a good little cupcake chef.

Crack the eggs right?

Uh, I think I saw an egg shell go in

It’s ok, I mixed it in

What?!… Oh never mind.

We might’ve had fewer egg shells, fewer spills, more thorough mixing if I’d done it myself but how much fun would that have been?

Her cousin liked them.

Kid made and kid approved!

bragg farm-9329

The Bragg Farm is a great little place in East Montpelier and the most perfect place for a 4 year old.

My niece watched her mom feed the mini horse.

She tried it

but the horse started nibbling her fingers.

My sister showed her how to keep her hand flat.

My niece with the whole thing and just threw the grain a the horse.

So she tried feeding it from the cup.
