Miss E-4481

Miss Emma II is a pretty ‘99 Kenworth that had just come in from California.

Miss E-4483

I asked who Miss Emma was named after. Emma grins and said “Me.”

Miss E-4480

She told me they’d had a custom sleeper put on. I forget the measurements, but it’s extra long.

It’s set up like a little camper in there. They’ve got a one burner stove so they don’t have to eat truck stop food all the time, a shower/toilet, mini fridge, and a table that converts into a bed.

The steering wheel was well worn and then some.

Emma laughed and said her husband had left the bull dog in the truck one time and the dog did what any bull dog left alone with nothing to do might do, he chewed on the wooden steering wheel.

“It gives it character” she said. remembering the bull dog fondly.

They won’t be making it home for Easter this year. But they have some family in TN stopping by the truck stop for a quick visit before they have to get back on the road.

Life on the road is a hard way to make a living.

Miss E-4501

Happy resurrection day whether you’re at home, at a truck stop or somewhere in between doing whatever it takes to make ends meet.

cows

Picking pears with cows is interesting. They really just want know if you have any grain in a bucket. So they act uninterested for a few minutes. They text their friends to see if they think you might have any grain. Then they just happen to be walking over in your direction. They nonchalantly check for grain in the box Bill always puts it in.  Then another comes and another.

Out in the pasture there are a few pear trees loaded with pears.

The only problem is most of the fruit is just out of reach.

Then the girls start coming over.

One of them spotted an escaped pear

and made short work of it.

She had this piece of grass sticking out of her mouth when she first walked up.

What are your favorite  pear recipes? These will be ripe in about a week and I’ll be desperate for ideas.

I was asked Why I haven’t posted any truck photos lately. Maybe I’ve been a little preoccupied by other interests but I have not stopped taking pictures of trucks in any way.

I thought of Matt aka “Semi Crazy” when I stopped for these photos.

semi crazy2

Semi Crazy is a cool kid who has good taste when it comes to trucks. I love this photo of him standing here doing his very best “I own this truck - even if it’s only in my mind” pose.

I see this kid in my mind standing just like that in front of every sharp looking Kenworth I see.

That pose of Semi Crazy’s makes me think of the smile on Pat’s face years ago,

when I asked him if I could take this picture of his truck.

Inside every truck driver there’s a little kid who dreamed of driving a truck one day and smiles every time he realizes he’s living that dream.

Take a friend to see their first hockey game. They just might like it even if they don't know what's going on.

Friend: What happened?
Me: Uh, he ran into the big guy.

Friend: Why are they fighting?
Me: I don't know. They just do that sometimes.

The Refs make them stop when someone falls down.

friend: How fast can they skate?
Me: On average players can skate at speeds in excess of 22mph. Some can skate up to 40mph!
Don't cry, it's not your fault your name is Cryer. Yeah maybe that's not what he said  exactly.

Goal!

A shove to the back...

 back up for more

Not to be left out the goalie tries to get a cross check in too

...Then they exchange words. It must be good because the ref tries to listen too!

A bunch of man hugging and bodies fall everywhere.

I think we have a new hockey fan.
If you're anywhere near Knoxville Next game is March 19th do come and bring a friend it's lots of fun.
