dinner and steve-1614

It’s been a while since I’ve been over to Dinner and Steve’s.

It’s pretty much the same old same old, Steve worries about going into the soup pot every once in a while. Dinner is too busy with the business of just being a turkey to be bothered with any kind of worry period.

Their days include a morning walk.

Actually they do a lot of synchronized walking.

dinner and steve-1604

Under the porch together with all feathers up,

Out from under the porch together with as many feathers as possible dragging on the ground to make some extra noise and impress all the female turkeys.

Then it’s off to show off to the cow.

The cow wasn’t even paying attention!

They put on their show just the same.

And then went on their way.

It’s a big job being a turkey all the time.

family fall-9120

Just past the fork in the road

family fall-9104

Two houses up from the bunker where they were packing corn.

Across the road from the barn

and the cows.

family fall-9106

There’s a little boy learning from his Grampa

family fall-9107

to enjoy work and having fun all at the same time.

family fall-9126

Because Grampa taught him early

Grampa has all the confidence in the world in his abilities.

And that little boy knows it.

cows

Picking pears with cows is interesting. They really just want know if you have any grain in a bucket. So they act uninterested for a few minutes. They text their friends to see if they think you might have any grain. Then they just happen to be walking over in your direction. They nonchalantly check for grain in the box Bill always puts it in.  Then another comes and another.

Out in the pasture there are a few pear trees loaded with pears.

The only problem is most of the fruit is just out of reach.

Then the girls start coming over.

One by one.

One of them spotted an escaped pear

and made short work of it.

She had this piece of grass sticking out of her mouth when she first walked up.

What are your favorite  pear recipes? These will be ripe in about a week and I’ll be desperate for ideas.

TMS223-46

I went out looking for Daffodils in the beautiful unseasonal 75 degrees.

TMS223-78

But got side tracked by these guys and their moms.

TMS223-42

The little guys were shy.

TMS223-49

Black and White warmed up in no time

TMS223-58

and conned me into getting her some unreachable grass from the other side of the fence.

TMS223-60

Then she got real close and said “Take my picture.”  I don’t know what she thought I’d been doing.

TMS223-35

Then this little guy took a step closer.

TMS223-44

His mom gave me a look

TMS223-85

She said if anyone messed with her baby or even so much as snickered at him for wiping his nose with his tongue  she’d use her horns or anything else on them.

TMS223-95

Eventually I did make it to the daffodils

TMS223-98

and found that the Crocuses were out enjoying the weather too.

TMS223-9-2

And remember, check first to see if the mama has horns before you snicker at the kid wiping his nose with his tongue.
