16 food #photoadayAUG

Well,  I guess it’s time to say goodbye to August, photoadayAug has been fun. The Collage is made from MCP Actions free timeline template.

16 food

I couldn’t decide so we have two for the “food” photo.

#photoadayAUG faces

18 inside2

I spotted this bear in a purse and naturally I stopped and asked if I could take a picture. She didn’t mind at all but felt the need to explain that she was baby sitting her granddaughter’s bear for a few minutes.

19 hole

Ned Nott was shot and Sam Shott was not.
So it is better to be Shott than Nott.
Some say Nott was not shot.
But Shott says he shot Nott.
Either the shot Shott shot at Nott was not shot,
Or Nott was shot.
If the shot Shott shot shot Nott, Nott was shot.
But if the shot Shott shot shot Shott,
Then Shott was shot, not Nott.
However, the shot Shott shot shot not Shott, but Nott.

Sorry, that came to mind when I saw those bullet holes and I still wonder about Ned. Ya know, who he might’ve been, what he might’ve done in his life. And whether Sam actually shot Nott or not. ok, I’ll stop.

20 today

I’ve been thinking about crowd surfing and doing a little research. I got some tips about how to surf.

Dress for it

Get up

Lean back

Relax –yeah right! When you know you have a pretty good chance at being dropped?

then I got to this: If you're a member of the audience and you'd rather not help someone crowd surf, especially if you're concerned about someone kicking you or falling on you, stick to the rear or the side edges of the crowd, where surfers don't generally go.

On second thought I don’t think I’ll be doing any crowd surfing.

21 cool

One person likes cameras better than guitars, another regards them all the same.

One person regards one day above another, another regards every day alike. Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind.

I am fully convinced about that one on the top left.

Just pretend that says 24 not 27  It must’ve been all that poison ivy growing along the path that distracted me.

26 dream3

I re-found the bulb mode on my camera! Actually I had to go read about how to find it again. Those lightning photos  that I stood out in the rain for and never did get one night were my motivator to figure out why my bulb option disappeared.

So here’s what I learned, if you are on anything other than manual you won’t get to bulb. I have been shooting on Aperture priority a lot, well ever since the deer crossed the road and all the close shots were too dark.

Forget the clock I didn’t have time I was busy looking under leaves in the garden.

Sarah made this card for me, she’s so talented and creative. On top of that her kids are all a lot of fun to hang out with.

beet cake-8277

Chocolate beet cake, another good way to have vegetables for desert! I’m not the biggest beet fan so I like this way of eating beets.

beet-chocolate cake-8206

Grease and

beet-chocolate cake-8208

flour a 9” pan.

beet-chocolate cake-8209

In a bowl add flour, sugar,

baking soda and salt.

beet-chocolate cake-8214

If you cocoa is clumpy you might want to sift it too.

Mix together.

beet-chocolate cake-8222

I like this part, all in the same bowl you have the flour mixture in add the egg, oil,

and vanilla.

Then pour in a half cup of beautiful colored beet puree.

Combine.

Pour it into a prepared pan.

Look at that color!

rebecca-7679a
Rebecca came over the other day and is positive it's more fun at my house. I have loaders to ride in,

rebecca-7748a
wild flowers to pick,

rebecca-7700a
a dog who will fetch
rebecca-7705a
and sorta flip biscuits off her nose and try to catch them,

rebecca-7759a
rocks to jump off of,

rebecca_7768a
and piles of dirt to climb on.
When her Papaw told her they had to go I heard her wail "I can't even visit my own neighbor!" as she dramatically flopped into her seat.
I told her she had to leave so she could come again.
She said "But we were going to make smoothies! We have to stay."
Papaw said supper's ready at home and you have school tomorrow.
I suggested she could come over the next day or maybe I could go over to her house to meet her Donkey that she named Marshmallow.
Rebecca said "No, No your house."
So her Papaw said "We could come over on Friday. How 'bout that?"
It seemed reasonable to me.
"But I don't want to wait that long!" She said in her very best whining for Grampa voice.

smoothies-7882a
As promised, we made the smoothies on friday.

smoothies-7876
We put a secret ingredient in. First we cut it up real small.

smoothies-7880a
Limes are sour!

smoothies-7894

smoothies-7896
Concentrated cherry juice,

smoothies-7901a
then start adding ice cubes as fast as you can.

smoothies-7899
Then watch, you have to watch, I always watch.

magic pixie dust
While the smoothie waited inside we took a little walk.
On our way back Rebecca spotted something I never would’ve noticed had she not pointed it out to me.
She bent down to what I thought was dirt, but I was wrong about that.
“Oh, look,” she said. “Magic pixie dust!” She tossed it up in the air making a nice cloud of dust. And then she walked through the settling cloud of dust! It landed on her hair and stuck to the little tiny sweat beads on her face. Smiling a huge smile she blinked bits of magic pixie dust off her eyelashes and looked at me.
I thought about how her Papaw might react, would he be able to see the magic pixie dust or would he just see dirt?
I‘m pretty sure he’s able to see magic pixie dust too.
