The George Disney trail is said to be one of the most difficult short trails in Georgia.
It’s only about a 2-3 mile round trip but you feel it on the way up and on the way back down.
Beautiful views from the top and well worth the climb.
The trail starts in Dalton GA behind the Church of the Nazarene in the corner of the gravel parking lot next to the family life building. There’s a little sign at the edge of the parking lot.
The trail is well maintained and starts off pretty flat.
Just when you think it’s going to be an easy hike you come to this sign
and that’s where the climbing begins.
In places the trail wraps around the edge of the ridge.
Someone even made a bench for resting at about the halfway point.
The trail is marked by these white paper-like things tied to the trees.
At the top is George’s grave.
A little farther is an outcropping of rocks with views to the west.
If you only have a few hours for hiking and want a view when you get there the Disney trail is a good choice.
I bet this would be a good place to watch the sunset too.
